First visit – What to expect:

Your first visit will involve a comprehensive health history assessment. The practitioner may examine your tongue, feel your pulse or ask many questions related to lifestyle. Including bowel habits, sleep patterns, diet and overall energy or mood patterns.

Your treatment:

Very fine sterile needles are placed in specific locations along a meridian pathway or around or near a point of pain. Upon insertion, you may feel a temporary stinging sensation; often you will not feel the majority of the insertions.

How long does it take:

The needles are usually left in place for five to 20 minutes. It is common that patients feel very relaxed, sleepy or even a bit “chilled out” after a session.

Possible cautions or side effects:

Those with bleeding disorders or who are taking blood thinners should check with their doctors before having acupuncture. Occasionally people may notice bruising at the site where needles have been inserted. Usually this is of no concern and fades within a couple days.
