All About Blood Pressure | Ep. 160
Combating High Blood Pressure Naturally
In this episode of The Health Made Simple Show, we address one of the biggest threats to our collective health: high blood pressure.
With approximately 30 million Americans currently living with this condition, it’s crucial to understand its implications and the potential for reversal.
Understanding High Blood Pressure: Many individuals with high blood pressure are unaware of its true significance. They often rely on lifelong medication without realizing that 99% of cases can be completely reversed. However, the reality is that high blood pressure, if left unmanaged, can pose serious health risks over time.

Defining “Normal” Blood Pressure:
Regularly monitoring your blood pressure is essential, as high blood pressure is often referred to as the “silent killer.” Without awareness, it can gradually increase to critical levels, subjecting your body to a constant, stressful fight-or-flight state. Normal blood pressure is typically around 120/80. An elevation to 130+ indicates elevated blood pressure, while 140+ is classified as high blood pressure. The diastolic (bottom) number measures atrial contractions, and the systolic (top) number reflects heart contraction strength. It’s important to note that these numbers can change independently of each other.
The Wisdom of Your Body:
Your body possesses remarkable intelligence, and if it raises your blood pressure, there is likely a reason behind it. Understanding and addressing these underlying factors is crucial for managing high blood pressure effectively.
When measuring your blood pressure at home, ensure accuracy by testing both arms and performing the test three times.
Contributing Factors to High Blood Pressure:
Several factors negatively impact blood pressure:
- Chronic Stress: Physical, mental, and chemical stressors can all raise blood pressure.
- Calcium and Magnesium Deficiency: Calcium is essential for regulating vasoconstriction, and a deficiency may result in the body leaching calcium from bones to compensate. Magnesium is crucial for relaxation.
- Insulin Resistance: Imbalanced blood sugar levels can negatively affect vasoconstriction, leading to increased blood pressure.
- Obesity: Excessive body fat places additional strain on the heart, causing increased blood pressure.
Natural Approaches to Lowering Blood Pressure:
Thankfully, there are various ways to naturally lower blood pressure:
- Stress Management: Practices such as yoga, meditation, and breathing techniques can rapidly help the body naturally reduce blood pressure.
- Magnesium Lactate: Consider adding a magnesium lactate supplement to your nighttime routine.
- Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin): This vitamin enhances oxygen supply to cells, aiding vasoconstriction.
- CardioPlus: A B vitamin complex that supports heart health, which can be taken in combination with Vitamin B2 and magnesium.
- Dietary Changes: Limit or eliminate refined carbohydrates, sugars, and alcohol, as they can spike cortisol levels and increase blood pressure.
