Anxiety, Autoimmune Causes & More! | Episode 83

by | Dec 18, 2021 | The Health Made Simple Show

I’ve had an amazing week this week and I can’t wait to share more clinical insights with you.

First, I got an email from one of my favorite people. She takes so much action, and not part-time action either, she’s made being healthy her lifestyle. Not just that, but she’s gotten her family involved too. Last year, her husband joined her for our New Year’s Cleanse for the first time. She sent me an email just to show love and gratitude to our team, but also to celebrate her husband’s achievements. Her husband lost 40-50 pounds last year and on top of that, her husband’s company gave $1,000 bonuses to everyone taking positive health steps. I couldn’t believe it! Imagine if that mindset was more popular. Taking measurable action instead of running and hiding is always a win/win. The company wins too, because healthy people are simply more productive.

Watch the live show below:

About a week or two ago, I had a young guy walk into the office without an appointment. He’d been in pain for months and was just in a bad way overall. He said he was so miserable that the more he worked out, the worse he felt. He said he would take up to 10 days to feel recovered. For me, that’s an immediate red flag for his adrenal health. I got him adjusted, he felt much better at the moment, and then I got him my All In adrenal protocol. It’s heavy, but the truth is… it works.

He came back in today, only 9 or 10 days later, and I barely recognized him! He told me his brain was working better, his body was feeling better, and his whole energy was totally different. He said he’d been an entrepreneur and had travelled all his life and the pain and discomfort had stopped him from dreaming and planning for the future. He was just trying to get through the day. But this week, he told me, he finally started to dream again. He was excited again and that’s the change I saw in him. His big takeaway?

He said he would never let it get that far again.

Did the pain cause the fatigue or did the fatigue cause the pain? We’ll never know, but the strategy is the same. Move better, eat better, think better. And whether you’re in pain or fatigued, you don’t have to let either one of them go that long. You can start to make that change today and you’ll be stunned (just like I was) at how quickly the change can take place. You weren’t made just to survive, you were made to thrive. There’s simply no need to be walking around toast all the time.

Don’t settle for less than superhuman!

Another young woman came in with neck and back pain. Pain can make smart people say and do pretty stupid things. She came in, at 38 years old, asking if she needed a new hip. The pain will stop you from thinking clearly. We were talking about a variety of different solutions, but she believed she just didn’t have the time. She’s running three businesses, so I asked if she started them all at the same time. Of course, she didn’t, she told me. So I told her that her health is the same way. Start with one thing, commit to it and as it becomes part of your lifestyle, you’ll find the space and energy to add another. Before you know it, you’ll be able to live the healthy lifestyle you need and it won’t feel overwhelming.

1. Will the New Year’s Cleanse help adrenal fatigue?

Yes, because we’ll reduce inflammation. Detoxing takes energy, make no mistake, so part of the cleanse will require sleeping more. But, if you cleanse and improve your body inside out, it will absolutely improve your adrenal health. If you think you have adrenal issues, though, it’s probably worth contacting me or a practitioner like me and having a one-on-one conversation. You can contact my office at 850.231.9288 or info@balance30a.com to make a virtual appointment. When you get back in the groove with your adrenal health, you’ll never want to go back!

2. Is there blood work for testing your adrenals?

Blood work is not the best, to do it properly, you can do an at-home saliva test. You want to see the cortisol level throughout the day, so you’ll spit in a vial at 5 different intervals throughout the day. That will help us know where you are and the best way to help you. You can contact my office at 850.231.9288 or info@balance30a.com or just come by for the test.

3. What is your opinion on Ivermectin and Monoclonal Antibodies as a treatment for Covid?

I haven’t personally used either, but I would 100% recommend them now. Fortunately, here in Florida, they’re free, and they’re a great action. Don’t just sit around with a virus and think it will go away. Covid can be really gnarly and the quicker you start treatment, the better. Ivermectin is the safest drug on the face of the earth. It’s not injuring people, it’s showing very very good signs. The key to Ivermectin is that it will inhibit the viral loads and prevent them from spreading. The monoclonal antibodies, Vitamins C, D and Zinc, and Hydroxychloroquine have all shown great results.

4. I have been feeling pressure in my ears for several months. It wasn’t serious, but recently I woke up one morning with vertigo. I did the Epley Maneuver and was able to function that day, but I’m still experiencing some dizziness. Any suggestions?

You’ll get vertigo because the small stones floating in your ear which control your righting reflex are out of whack. If the stone in your ear isn’t righting you, you can quite literally tip over. There’s a simple maneuver you can have someone do for you called the Epley Maneuver that can clear it up. Very often, if you see a practitioner, they’ll be able to help adjust you if one of your stones is stuck. This is sometimes caused by an infection, which you can fight with Andrographis and Congaplex

5. How do emotions and stress play into weight gain? Is that adrenal-related as well?

The adrenal glands supply our body with cortisol, our stress hormone. Cortisol can actually be anti-inflammatory and help relieve pain. However, when you’re under constant stress or you’re going through a prolonged challenging time, your body is constantly releasing cortisol. This will inevitably cause weight gain, especially in the midsection, because your body is also sending signals to your liver to put sugar into your bloodstream. Because of that, your body produces more insulin, which stores that sugar in a fat cell. That’s how prolonged stress leads to weight gain. It’s especially hard to come off, because it’s not a caloric issue. Every person’s body is different, some will never gain weight, and some will respond to every prolonged time of stress with weight gain.

6. What causes auto-immune conditions?

That’s a wide-open answer, but I’ll try to narrow it down. All auto-immune conditions are caused by some form of stress. That’s not necessarily emotional stress however, it can be chemical stress, physical stress, or any other form. There’s almost always some initial tipping point that causes the body to break down and turn on a genetic code to trigger that auto-immune condition. There’s an ANA test you can take that will test if you have an auto-immune condition, but it’s not definitive, so I don’t put a lot of weight on it. Usually, it takes many years to figure these conditions out, because they develop over time and require the symptoms to become more prevalent to really nail down. A disease like Lupus doesn’t have a formal test, just a diagnosis based on specific symptoms.

The first thing we can do to get rid of them is identifying the cause. Leaky gut, for example, can cause a super high reaction on the ANA test. If we can identify the stressor, the stress has to go. If you get diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, you have to get rid of gluten immediately. If you have any auto-immune condition, you immediately need to bump up your Vitamin D. The best herb you can take is Rehmannia Complex for any auto-immune disease. If you know which gland, you can get the PMG for that specific body part which will mitigate the damage it’s taking. If you don’t know, you can always go to Spleen PMG, because your sleep is always working to fight any auto-immune condition. You should take that low dose, long term. If you feel like you’re in the middle of a flare-up, you can take two Thytrophin PMG before bed on an empty stomach. These are also fine if you’re a diabetic. For someone with MS, I would have a slightly different strategy, which you could contact me at 850.231.9288 or info@balance30a.com to discuss.

7. My husband has a lot of anxiety, could it all be in his head?

Some of it, perhaps, but not all. Anxiety is one of the fastest-growing issues out there and no one is immune to it. If you’ve never had anxiety on a level that is debilitating, it’s very hard to understand. It can overwhelm the body, so we need to have strategies in advance and understand our triggers. For some people, when they cleanse, it alleviates their anxiety. Anxiety stems from fear of the unknown. Our minds sometimes just make things up and our predominant thoughts begin triggering our anxiety. We still, however, need to address what’s happening in our bodies. Getting good sleep, having good nutrition, and eliminating stimulants are all ways we can avoid making anxiety worse and will help us avoid the downward spiral.

My number one suggestion for people whose brains take them down the spiral is to become an avid readers. It gives you a new predominant thought, it gives us something to focus on and to share. Opening a book or starting an audiobook can instantly change the predominant thought in your mind. I had a patient with heart conditions, and getting out of rhythm can cause an anxiety state which can worsen the condition. They told me they open the crossword puzzles app on their phone and immediately change their mind. One of my favorite books is called “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz. It’s an easy read, but incredibly impactful.

And last, but certainly not least, this week’s action to become superhuman is…

Don’t Settle.

Raise your bar, because you’re worth every bit of effort and energy you put in. Don’t spend your life walking around like a zombie, choose to become the best version of yourself!\

This week’s supplement recommendations:

Vertigo- The Epley Maneuver, Andrographis, and Congaplex

Auto-immune conditions- Rehmannia Complex. Spleen PMG, and Thytrophin PMG
