Bio-Hacking | Episode 28

In this episode of the Health Made Simple Show, we are going to talk about biohacking, aka health hacking. With the New Year coming, let’s talk about strategies to get closer to that superhuman status.

Biohacking means having an impact on our biology through repetitive actions that give us our desired results. This will have a massive impact on our overall health.

Infrared Sauna

An infrared sauna is different from a regular sauna. Infrared light therapy is not nearly as hot as a classic sauna and it penetrates about 8 inches into the body. This generates heat inside of the cell which activates the cell and increases metabolic activity. Sweating during the infrared sauna takes a little bit longer because it penetrates the body, activates the cell, and finally detoxifies. The deep penetration of the infrared sauna activates what we call brown adipose tissue. It releases two different hormones which burn up white fat cells. Sweating is one of the most phenomenal things that our bodies can do. Remember, your skin is the largest elimination organ in the human body. I recommend using the infrared sauna three times a week.

Ice Baths and Cold Showers

The closer we get and adapt to fire and ice, the stronger we become. Ice baths activate the brown adipose tissue. Ice baths are excellent for weight loss because they shock the brown adipose tissue, release hormones, and help burn fat. If you are an athlete weight training or running, cold baths will help decrease inflammation. Ice baths provide an exhilarating feeling and help to downregulate pain. If you have adrenal fatigue, I do not recommend ice baths.

Fasting

Fasting is a health hack that has been around forever. Fasting is not always easy and it can be a challenge. I want to explain what happens when we fast. There is something called autophagy which is the natural cell death that takes place in our body. When we fast, the body still needs to eat things up because we need a source of energy. Autophagy will speed up the process of cell death, and kill the bad or weak cells. Fasting is what the body innately uses to heal itself. If you google diets for cancer, you will see keto and fasting. Fasting also helps you to lose weight, increase muscle mass, and increase testosterone.

Becoming a Master Sleeper

The more you sleep, the better you sleep, the better human being you are. If you have sleeping challenges, there are three ways to diagnose them: a falling asleep issue, a staying asleep issue, or you have a waking up issue. If you have a falling asleep issue, I highly reccomend valerian. Valerian helps the pineal gland produce melatonin. The longer you are on Valerian, the better it works. I also recommend getting rid of blue light because blue light interferes with your body’s ability to release melatonin properly. If you find yourself waking up during the night, I recommend Magnesium Lactate. Believe it or not, you don’t wake up because you’re busy-minded, but because you ran out of the minerals required to keep you asleep. This happens when you eat sweets before you go to bed. Sugar will do this, and so will alcohol. If you’re waking up tired, look into your adrenal glands.

Intuition

Listen to your body, your body never lies. The body is always giving us feedback through symptoms. A challenge in our modern day is that we have been taught to eliminate symptoms, our best communication tool. If you listen to your inner voice, you will always be moving in the right direction.
