Watch the live show below:
What are the Symptoms of Limited Brain Function?
The number one symptom of reduced brain function is brain fog.
Brain fog can be seen when you begin to lose memory, motivation, concentration, and the ability to want to tackle different tasks or multitask.
Some other symptoms are forgetting words, forgetting names, and losing clarity.
When our brain becomes overwhelmed or lacks the proper nutrients, our brain function begins to decline.
Why Do We Often Neglect Brain Health?
It does not hurt us emotionally or physically, so we assume it is not something that should concern us. However, it is the precursor to many issues, from emotional health to dementia and Alzheimers.
Also, there are not popular tests that commonly offered to monitor brain health. This can make many of us believe it is not something to be consistently considered
What Impacts Our Brain Function?
Sleep
Sleep has the greatest impact on the health of our brains. Though it is common and even glorified to reduce our sleep schedule, it is detrimental to our overall health.
Many of our coping mechanisms, such as the use of stimulants, may give us a burst of energy but deteriorate our brain function.
Stress
Repetitive negative thinking has significant implications for our health. Also, fear can impact our neuropathways, negatively affecting how our brain functions.
Sugar
The Brain loves sugar. However, it quickly crashes from the sugar high resulting in negative mental health.
Sugar also damages tissue in the body leading to inflammation in the brain.
Leaky Brain
There are tight junctions that are broken in the gut, eventually bringing things such as viruses and bacteria to the brain. Once this occurs, it breaks down the blood-brain barrier that can lead to serious health complications or even death.
A large cause of leaky gut and leaky brain is the consumption of GMOs.
Our body does not know how to process GMOs, so they beat up our body and land in fat cells. The brain is made up of fat and begins to store GMOs.
A great way to overcome this is only eating out of God’s Garden. You can learn more about this here!
What Nutritional Choices Improve our Brain Function?
Make sure to include fat with each meal that you are consuming.
Do not consume stimulants without fat. This will dehydrate the brain and puts more stress on the adrenal glands. A great way to do this would be including butter, full-fat coconut creamer, or even MCT oil in your cup of coffee.
Fish oil supplements are a great source of DHA that keep the brain robust and prevent shrinking.
What Else Hurts Our Brain Function?
Lack of Exercise
- It is essential to remain active because it allows our brains to produce hormones correctly.
- The number one anti-aging hormone is produced in the brain through exercise!
- We also need to exercise our minds! This could be by completing crossword puzzles, sudoku puzzles, and other creative outlets such as writing, learning a language, and drawing.
Medications
- Anti-anxiety medications and sleep medications down-regulate our human function.
- The key is not to solely stop taking medication but to learn how to properly balance our brain based on our lifestyle and medication choices.
What Supplements and Herbs Benefit Brain Health?
Before we begin, it is ESSENTIAL to make sure you are purchasing quality supplements and herbs.
We need to be serious about what we are putting in our bodies!
Ginco
It comes from the oldest tree in the world!
It is the absolute best for improving short-term memory and an excellent daily supplement.
It is neuroprotective and neurorestorative, not just protecting your brain but healing the injuries that it has endured.
Bacopa Complex
This is a tonic that is built for people who are consistently multi-tasking.
It allows our livers to detox to ensure that our brains are correctly functioning.
Ribonucleic Acid (RNA)
This helps feed your cerebellum and is the number one anti-aging supplement.
If you are losing words and forgetting names, then you have a deficiency in RNA.
A great way to test this is through a balance test. Dr. Bart outlines how to perform this test at the 51-minute mark in the attached video!
Making Health Simple
1. Integrate
Do not try to be perfect in a specific category, but work to live an integrated life with a healthy sleep schedule, diet, and overall lifestyle.
2. Develop Awareness
Think about the times you get angry or lose motivation. Oppose to justifying these decisions consider what may be causing you to respond the way that you are and how your brain health is related.
