Foundations of Health | Episode 166
“Foundations of health” may not sound like the most adreneline-pumping topic, but it is the most critical step of your health journey that if you skip it – you will be on a serious uphill battle.
You could spend thousands of dollars on biohacks, quick-fixes, or fad diets, but if you don’t have these 3 critical pillars to your success, you will reap the consequences as you age.
Watch the live show below:
Moving
There are 3 elements you can use to take stock of your current situation:
- Range of movement: Your ROM is usually the first thing you notice as you age. When we can’t do things our younger selves could do more easily, it’s easy to blame it on age. But in reality, it means you’ve allowed your range of motion to decline. And unfortunately, the average modern lifestyle doesn’t promote a healthy range of motion to support you as you age. Yoga is a great way to build your range of motion back up over time.
- Muscle strength: We need strength to participate in our own lives. If you aren’t getting stronger, you’re getting weaker. You need to break your muscles down in order to build them back up stronger. Remember, some is better than none – so prioritize consistency over everything else.
- Endurance/Stamina: Life rarely operates in 1-hour increments, so your body needs to have some physical stamina. Working in harmony with ROM and strength, if you want to minimize your physical decline as you age, it’s important to challenge yourself through the thoughts when something gets hard, to build your stamina and endurance.
Eating
- Keep it clean, so allow God’s Garden diet to guide your nutritional choices. If it doesn’t come from the earth (and not from a factory), it doesn’t belong anywhere near your body. The main commonality of several of the most popular diets is eating clean.
- Your body naturally wants to be a self-healing machine, so don’t deprive it from the nutrients it needs to do it’s job by prioritizing your nutrition.
Thinking
- Do you believe in what your body can do?
- Do you know how to LISTEN to what your body is trying to tell you?
- Positive thought is one of the most powerful tools you can have throughout your healing journey
