Dr. Bart Answers…
What are your suggestions for natural birth control if someone doesn’t want to take hormonal birth control?
No type of birth control that manipulates your hormones is good for you. That’s the simple answer there.
What can I do about grinding my teeth at night?
We’re not just trying to put something in there to stop the teeth from grinding. We got to get to the root cause. I suggest going to go see your chiropractor. Most of the time this has a neural component, meaning that you have some tension that’s built up in your cervical spine. Those nerves stay in what we call sympathetic dominance – they’re on. When you sleep, they bind up.
Typically teeth grinders are people who sleep on their bellies. So, we have to work on our sleep posture. The ideal posture for sleeping is on your back.
Use Kava to help you unwind at night because if you’re grinding your teeth, some part of you is still stressed. It’s a little bit like a muscle relaxer and anti-anxiety.
Typically burping means you’re not digesting your food. So we’re going to do two things. One, you should get a digestive enzyme. I recommend Zypan.
Burping is also a classic sign of gallbladder issues. Burping also means you’re not assimilating your food well. So I recommend you also get AF Beta Food. I’m going to have you go high dose to see if this works because it’s gentle and safe. I recommended you take five AF Beta Food, three times a day. Do this for thirty days.
Spring allergies. Are there any natural ways to remedy them?
With seasonal allergies, you have too much coming in too fast. Picture you have a glass of water, and all of a sudden, the pollen is filling that glass of water up.
When it gets to the top, the glass of water is your liver. Everything that’s coming in, your body is going to try to process it, break it down, or send it to the intestinal system. Your body is going to try and clean everything out. If that glass overflows (your liver) and it’s taking in too much, too fast, that’s when your liver produces more histamine.
So now we have a histamine response. That’s the watery eyes, stuffy nose, and filled sinus cavities.
Antronex is a natural product that helps the liver drain faster. So as you’re filling the cup up, you’re draining it down the bottom. So you don’t get to that spot where you have the histamine reaction. When you’re experiencing seasonal allergies (not all the time), take four of the Antronex supplements in the morning or right before you go to bed.
Also, stay super hydrated. Allergies are twice as bad when you’re inflamed. When you get sugar, you’re twice as inflamed. So you have to get yourself clean. However, a lot of people with allergies actually lean towards sweetness because that’s the only thing they can taste.
Another phenomenal product for allergies is called Allerplex. It helps to heal up your system. It helps the immune system create more white blood cells required for you to have a good response to the pathogens that are coming in. Take this three times a day.
If you take both Antronex and Allerplex together, there’s a very good likelihood, you’ll increase your water, decrease your sugar, increase your sleep, and have a better time dealing with seasonal allergies.
If you have the same seasonal allergies every single year, it’s an immune deficiency. So, it’s not just the pollen, and that’s when we have to look at a deeper strategy.
A lot of women have hysterectomies, and there’s nothing natural about it. We now have to play these cards.
Your hypothalamus gland sits right between your eyes, and that gland interprets messages from your thyroid, ovaries, and adrenal glands. It’s the mother of your hormones. It gets messages, and it’s sending them back and forth.
With your ovaries gone, it throws your hypothalamus gland off, and you can see different things happening. You can see emotional changes, weight gain, weight management, sensitivities to colds, and all these different things.
First thing is that you want to help regulate that. Ashwagandha is amazing for that. I want to support the hypothalamus gland, the thyroid gland, and the adrenals. Peraplex is a product that works all three of these simultaneously. Start with that.
Constipation crisis… Been taking magnesium lactate since the 30-day challenge.
If it is a true constipation crisis, the first go-to is magnesium lactate. It’s a dilator for smooth muscle and that’s what our intestine is made of. So this person is right on point.
If this hasn’t helped over time, I take a different herb called Colax. It’s a little stronger and can give a little bit more urgency, but listen we have to be able to detox. The first night, take one after dinner and see how your body responds. The second night, take two. Then you have to back off the Colax. Also, use the AF Beta Food. That can help clean the liver and bile as well.
Anxiety is one of the biggest topics this year. Anxiety is so manageable and fixable. First thing is to breathe.
With anxiety, we have to get some very good breathing techniques. My favorite is breathing in through the nose and breathing all the way into the lower part of the belly like you’re going to push the belly out. Most people usually breathe up into their chest instead of down.
Also, get off the stimulants right away. If you have anxiety, caffeine is going to trigger that sympathetic nervous system response faster.
The third part is your personal awareness. Once you have anxiety, you start to know in advance. Each time we trigger that anxious movement, the alarm goes off faster. So, knowing your personal triggers is key.
We want to increase anything that produces dopamine, which is anything that helps you have fun. Get out in the sun, exercise, or have more sex. Anything that helps the body unwind a little bit. There is a power with napping as well.
Three supplements I recommend: water-based Kava, Ashwagandha (take twice daily), and Min-Chex.
What’s the difference between functional medicine and normal medicine? How would you look at cholesterol medications differently?
If you’re looking at cholesterol, and you go to a normal doctor with high cholesterol, the recommendation would be to go on medication to lower your cholesterol. Functional health doctors will view high cholesterol with a different lens.
Functional medicine takes that number, and asks how and why did it get that high? I would get an entire cholesterol panel and simultaneously get our top three inflammation markers. Cholesterol is like duct tape, and if you’re producing more of it you have to ask why am I producing more duct tape? We look at inflammation markers. We look at C-reactive protein (CRP), homocysteine, and hemoglobin A1c.
In functional analysis, we run tests on a lot of systems of the body and we’re looking for the root cause and take a holistic, natural approach if we can.
