This week we’re answering:
My blood test showed I’m low in T3, but I don’t want to have to take thyroid medication. What options do I have?
Your body naturally does not produce enough T3, which is why we have to convert our T4 (which we naturally produce a surplus of) into T3. This conversion process occurs in the liver and the digestive tract, so if you are having issues in either of those areas, you will likely have thyroid level issues. Selenium (available in Brazil nuts), magnesium, and zinc are the key minerals you need for optimal T3 conversion. Milk thistle is also a great liver support (which in turn supports thyroid hormone conversion).
Getting food poisoning is the worst (especially when traveling). Is there any way to avoid it?
Food poisoning means bacteria or a parasite has entered your body and has bypassed the body’s natural safeguard mechanisms (such as the hydrochloric acid in your stomach or your immune system/ white blood cells).
To reduce your chances of contracting food poisoning:
- Increase the presence of (hydrochloric acid) HCL in your body. Medications like Tums, PPI medications etc naturally decrease the amount of HCL that you have, so if you naturally have lower HCL levels, you need to ensure you have an adequate amount to kill potential bacteria or parasites entering your body. Supplementing HCL, consuming apple cider vinegar, or decreasing these acid-inhibiting medications before eating is a great way to decrease your chances of bad particles getting past your stomach and into your digestive tract.
- GI Adsorb supplements help bind wasteful particles in the body (such as parasites) to help the body excrete them faster.
- Zypan is a great digestive aid to take before every meal to increase your protective enzymes and reduce the chances of contracting food poisoning.
