Pain Management: Herbs, Therapies and Foods! | Episode 163

by | Aug 10, 2023 | The Health Made Simple Show

Pain is a natural part of life, serving as our body’s primary communication channel to alert us that something is amiss. However, misinterpreting this message can lead to emotional pain, poor decisions, and even addiction.

Unfortunately, while there are many “quick fixes” like Advil and morphine to alleviate pain, true relief comes only when we understand where our pain is coming from.

Watch the live show below:

Where Does Pain Come From?

Pain usually originates in the brain and often stems from trauma, either physical or emotional, such as a car accident or chronic sitting. These traumas can become chronic, as nerve messages travel from the pain site to the brain, initiating the body’s response process.

Ever notice how your first reaction to an injury is to move or shake the affected area? Movement activates a different, competing sensor in the brain, diverting attention from the pain. Movement, therefore, becomes a potent remedy for pain. This principle underlies advice like “walk it off” from a soccer coach or why a woman in childbirth might walk or bounce on a ball to cope with contractions.

Understanding and Managing Pain:

If you want to break free from the chronic pain holding you back, you must first become an attentive listener to your body’s messages. Often, escaping pain also means breaking free from harmful habits causing it. By truly listening, you can make impactful changes and unlock opportunities for growth.

Tips for Managing Pain:

If you have chronic pain you want to get ahead of before it gets worse, consider these natural pain-relieving solutions:

  • Diet: Up to 50% of pain is diet-related. Sugars, alcohol, refined carbs, and gluten increase inflammation, worsening pain. Stick to natural foods (God’s Garden) for a dietary reset.
  • Hydration: Stay adequately hydrated.
  • Natural Painkillers: Daily turmeric, Saligesic (aka nature’s aspirin),and Nervagesic supplements are all risk and side effect free, natural painkillers.
  • Holistic Therapies: Incorporate chiropractic care, soundwave therapy, and acupuncture into your routine to promote physical and energetic healing.
  • Keep moving: Even if you aren’t the most graceful, dancing is a great way to move your body and get the positive energy flowing.

While pain can induce stress and anxiety, it also offers growth opportunities. By taking the time to listen to our bodies instead of suppressing them with quick-fix medications, we open the door to becoming the strongest versions of ourselves.
