Top 4 Takeaways | Episode 68
We’re back with another episode of the Health Made Simple show where I’ll be discussing the three biggest takeaways from one of the largest health conferences in the country and we’ll be answering a few more of your questions covering topics from hormones to weight loss to teeth!
Watch the live show below:
Firstly, though, I want to share three of the most important things I took away from a recent conference in Orlando, FL where I was joined by nearly 2,500 other practitioners.
- We are overlooking the foundations of health, particularly the immune system.
One of the most foundational things we should know about our health is that the focus should be on the host, not the germ. Many different hosts can be exposed to the same germ, but the ones who have leveled up their immune system will respond vastly differently than a host who is vulnerable.
Our immune system has two different parts. First is the innate, which is our body naturally trying to defend itself. Things like a runny nose, watery eyes, and even hives (things we normally try to combat), are actually our body trying to protect itself. Second is the adaptive immune system, which is the way we fight different things we’re exposed to. The simple things we discuss all the time, Zinc, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Calcium, etc., are the ways we can strengthen the adaptive immune system.
- 95% of Covid deaths have 4 comorbidities or more.
People will interpret this statistic in many different ways, but our focus needs to be on how we have become a society filled with comorbidities. We need to be vigilantly focused on the things we can control to reduce these factors in our own lives. We can control what we do and don’t eat, we can control what supplements we take, we can control our behaviors. The human body is an amazing entity, we need to focus on leveling it up.
- There is a major opioid crisis in our country.
Opioids are the primary medication that leads people to heroin. We are up to nearly 90,000 opioid deaths a year. Opioids can include things as common as morphine, Vicodin, codeine, and hydrocodone. A recent study shows that on average a chiropractic adjustment is actually more effective at reducing pain than opioids. Opioid addiction is especially dangerous because it happens to people from all walks of life. We need to be careful to avoid these things in our own bodies and pay attention to our friends and family who may be taking them.
As much as I enjoyed my time with other practitioners at the conference, I look forward to hearing your questions every week as well and giving us an opportunity to learn more about leveling up.
1.- I’ve become super irritable and angry all the time, what hormone test should I run?
First of all, it shows great awareness and humility to step back and say something is wrong with me. Our first tactic isn’t always to run labs, but to make sure we’re getting back in balance. Focus on your diet and go to sleep, the foundational things can make a huge difference. After that, the lab I would recommend is the saliva adrenal test which will test your levels of estrogen and progesterone. You can contact my office at 850.231.9288 or info@balance30a.com and we can send that our and schedule a zoom consultation. As far as supplements go, there are three I recommend that should work fairly quickly. Min-Chex, which can ease the effects of stress and help maintain emotional balance, Hypothalmex, which supports hypothalamus gland health, and Ashwagandha Complex, an herb that can help maintain healthy mood balance.
2.- What was the biggest question you were asked at your conference?
I was asked to pick a go-to herb. So, if I was stitch on a deserted island and could only bring one herb and one vitamin or mineral, here’s what I would pick. For the herb, I’d pick Echinacea Premium. It does so many things, especially for the immune system, and this particular product is the strongest dosed echinacea product on the market. For the vitamin or mineral, I’d pick Cataplex C. It’s the full biologically active enzyme of Vitamin C which has so many health benefits.
3.- How do I lose weight around my hips and arms?
Assuming your diet and intermittent fasting schedules are happening, it’s likely cortisol or stress-induced weight gain. You may want to contact the office and run the adrenal panel we discussed earlier. As always, sleep is your best friend as is Ashwagandha Complex for stress. The weight around your arms could be indicative of a thyroid imbalance. You can also contact the office to run our female panel which includes a full thyroid panel. In addition, you can also contact us for Adrenal Tonic which can help clear up those issues.
4.- How quickly do Zinc, Vitamin C and Vitamin D levels drop and how quickly can they get to proper levels.
The good news is you can get all of those to a proper level in 30 days. The bad news is, your Vitamin C and Zinc levels can be healthy today and within 2-3 days, you can be totally depleted. You need to be taking an outside source of Vitamin C every day because your body doesn’t produce it and it uses it for so many things. The body also doesn’t store zinc well, which is especially dangerous for men, as it is the primary mineral for prostate health. Steady use over the long haul makes them more bio-active and teaches your body how to use them. As for Vitamin D, it’s more storable and fat-soluble, so while you still need to be conscious, it’s not as urgent as Zinc or Vitamin C.
5.- Is there a natural way to fight cavities?
Cavities start with a pH imbalance in the mouth. When your mouth is too alkaline, the pH starts to inhibit the enamel and your teeth become deficient in minerals. Then, the enamel starts to break down and the issues begin. The good news is that teeth are bones and we can heal bones. First, the obvious classic dentist advice, the sugar has got to go. From there, there are things we can take. Bio-Dent (9 a day for the first 30 days and 6 a day after that) and Calcifood (9 a day for the first 30 days and 4 a day after that) can be your 90-120 day protocol for drastically improving your dental health.
In addition, many problems can be prevented by oil pulling. You take a tablespoon of coconut oil, chew it up until it becomes a liquid in your mouth, then swish it around for 10-20 minutes. After that, you must spit it out (DON’T SWALLOW) and rinse your mouth out using a toothbrush with no toothpaste. This will kill off the bacteria and candida in your mouth and prevent many of the problems they would’ve caused.
Lastly, we always end with our Superhuman Action to level up our health.
This week, it’s to remember that foundations are everything. We have to remember what got us to where we are. What made you fall in love? What got you to the place of financial stability you are? What caused you to pursue your career? Remember you can never go wrong with eating right, thinking right, and sleeping right.
