Let’s Talk About Face Masks
Do they work? How do they help?
Think of it like this…if I throw a bucket of water at your face and you have a mask on, you’re going to be a little drier than if you didn’t have a mask on.
Is there protection from these masks, yes absolutely! Does it protect you from everything–no.
Let me challenge you in this, at my office when a client comes in with a mask on I put mine on as well. For me it is about respecting that person.
I encourage you to take both opposing sides of the argument and simply land in the middle with respecting others choices.
Fear of the Unknown
The reason that we have been put in this uncomfortable place is fear of the unknown.
It all started with a super high proposed mortality rate. We’re not afraid of getting a cough or a fever, we’re afraid of dying. So when those proposed mortality rates were released, the fear began to set in.
The reason we started social distancing and the reason masks and gloves were implemented was not to stop the virus entirely, but rather to flatten the curve and extended the period of time that people were going to get this virus and in turn, decrease fatalities from the virus.
SuperHuman Strategies
If we prepare ourselves to be super human with superhuman strategies, we start to think in ways of building our bodies up so they’re ready for whatever comes towards us.
Thats the strategy moving forward.
Immune System Alliance
The microbiome in your gut is a big part of your immune system. Let’s call it the “immune Alliance.”
Did you know theres actually not a “immune system?”
Theres an endocrine system that is made up of glands like your adrenal glands, thyroid etc.
Theres other systems that are definable, but the immune system is made up of an alliance.
The better that your bodies systems work together, the more protected you are from viruses
Did you know your bones are part of your immune system?
Your long bones is what houses your bone marrow where we make red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout your body. This is critical. We are dealing with a virus that has an oxygen issue on a cellular level. So if we do not have strong red blood cells we wont be able to defend ourselves from a virus that deprives the host from oxygen.
The alliance also includes your thymus gland, which is what creates T-Cells and produces white blood cells. Also your lungs which holds oxygen in your body and even your spleen.
Did you know that your spleen is where antibodies are made in your body?
Your hands are a big part of this system as well. Ever since we were kids we touch things and we get sick.
The microbiome instantly neutralizes these viruses or bacterias and then started the process with the white blood cells to create antibodies, helping to keep us healthy.
Using hand sanitizer can actually start to kill off our natural bacteria in our hands. This makes us often MORE susceptible to viruses.
5 Ways to Protect Your Immune System
1. Sleep
We heal when we sleep.
Your T-Cells and natural killer cells go hunting at night to kill harmful viruses in your body.
This is why sleep is so important.
2. Diet
How your diet affects your immune alliance.
Sugar causes the most oxidative stressors, while alcohol can put your immune system.
3. Movement
Even a 30 minute walk can boost your immune system.
Movement helps produce red blood cells, and helps you fight off viruses. Movement is not exercise. That is something humans made up because we don’t move enough.
This should be a natural thing just get up and go and get your body moving.
4. Supplements
We’ve always heard vitamin c is good for the immune alliance.
Asorcbic acid is what you’ll find at the local grocery store but it is not giving you the full spectrum of the Vitamin C complex.
You need a full spectrum of Vitamin P and Vitamin J that all work together to help fight viruses and bacteria.
There are always good quality and bad quality supplements, look for reputable brands that include full complex’s like I spoke of above. Vitamin D is another great supplement as well as Zinc.
By taking supplements we are trying to give our body the tools to do what it’s made to do.

5. Mindest
Who do you need to be to move forward?
You don’t need to be the one trying to rip someone on facebook. We need to be getting back to our roots and smiling and loving people and helping each other through this pandemic.
