LIVE Q&A: Intermittent fasting, Fungal infections, Detox, and more!| Episode 81

by | Dec 4, 2021 | The Health Made Simple Show

Once again, I’m going to start this week with a clinical insight. These are the moments I’m still learning, even 25 years later, and the things that still impress me. Today I saw a lady who is 76 years young. She had lost 35 pounds in the year since I had seen her and I was amazed! She did it all on her own, by doing some simple things, one at a time. She went from eating off a plate to eating out of a bowl. Secondly, she decided she would no longer have dessert. After that, she cut out bread and pasta. The really wild thing is, she only did it on the weekdays! As she went, she no longer craved the carbs or dessert and her taste buds changed. Once she started eating real food, that’s what she wanted (even on the weekends). She changed the trajectory of the rest of her life at 75 years old, just by making simple good decisions.

The only time you’re done is when you give up.

Before we get into questions, I wanted to remind you that we’re kicking off our New Year’s Cleanse.  It’s the best way to get back on track after the holidays. You can draw the line in the sand, hunker down, and truly move forward. It’s one thing to stop eating bad, it’s another thing to rehabilitate the body. Don’t worry, you’ll still get your protein, you’ll keep your muscle, nobody has ever perished from the Dr. Bart Cleanse. Plus, adding the supplements is the real key to kick starting the rehabilitation process. The best part, though, is the tribe! We get to do this together, spend time encouraging each other, sharing recipes, answering questions, and keeping each other on track. If you’re local in Florida, we’re working on meal plans through the cafe, just to make the process even simpler for you. The early bird special is still running, you can save $100 by clicking the link above or contacting my office at 850.231.9288 or info@balance30a.com

(Make sure you check with your doctor, if you’re taking medications. We usually don’t put pregnant mothers on the cleanse, but besides that, if you can eat food, you can join the cleanse!)

Now, let’s dive into the questions!

1. In regards to intermittent fasting, does putting collagen in my black coffee break my fast?

The simple answer is no. Now, there are blogs that say that any changes to your blood sugar breaks your fast, but the truth is, it’s okay to change your blood sugar a little during a fast, as long as it goes right back. The only way you can really know is by checking your blood sugar. As long as you’re not spiking it and keeping it high, you can do things that benefit your gut health like collagen in your coffee.

2. What should I do if I want to book a one-on-one consultation with you?

Contact my office at 850.231.9288 or info@balance30a.com. You can send over labs or records you want to review and if you want to run labs, you can contact us and we can set that up. As far as the actual consultations, we just hop on a Zoom call!

3. What brand of MCT oil is best?

Just look for an organic one, I use Nature’s Way.

4. What is the stealth pathogen protocol?

We strategically use 4 different herb groups to attack all the stealth pathogens, viruses, parasites, or anything that buries and hides in the body. For example, Epstein-Barr is a stealth pathogen that knows how to hide in your tissue and not circulate in your blood. The technique is pulse dosing over a course of 90 days. We use the four different herb groups in a specific way to root out and eliminate those pathogens. Contact my office at 850.231.9288 or info@balance30a.com for more information.

5. What can you do if you seriously don’t like vegetables?

If you’re not getting them in, you need to supplement. Taking 3 SP Green Food tablets will give you most of what you would be getting from vegetables in a day. Often, people who don’t like vegetables don’t like the way they were introduced to them. We can get creative if we attach a bigger “Why?” to it. If you’re not eating vegetables, what are you eating instead? Instead of focusing on what is bad or good, focus on the good reasons to eat those vegetables.

6. Do you have any suggestions for toe fungal infections?

Believe it or not, you still need to clean out the gut! Spanish Black Radish can play a huge role in detoxifying the body. You can also put apple cider vinegar right on the toe every day. Any fungus is always a gut health issue. Get cleaner!

7. What’s the best way to detox my liver?

We actually did a whole episode on this subject, click here to listen. The liver has three phases of detox. First, your body has to respond to a toxin. It either tries to make it more water-soluble or it tries to break it down. Second, your body starts to conjugate it and try to move it out of the body. This is where you need your antioxidants. Lastly, all of that detox is going to take place in the kidneys and the intestines, so we need to make sure that we’re making those as healthy as possible. One Milk Thistle Forte twice a day is a great help, but ultimately cleansing will be the best way to do this.

8. In addition to the adrenal tonic, what other supplements can be suggested for perimenopause, specifically heart palpitations and shortness of breath?

There is going to be a heavy emphasis on the adrenals, add 6 Drenamin a day, that added to your tonic, should be adequate support. For the shortness of breath, we could be looking at an iron deficiency. Added to the heart palpitations, it would seem like there may be some anxiety there. I would consider adding one Ashwagandha Forte three times a day. There could also be electrolyte imbalance, so it may be best to sit down with someone like me to get into the specifics of what’s going on. Perimenopause can me a long term ride, so getting your answers is a smart choice.

9. Do you have any tips on staying rooted during a move?

Moving disrupts our chi much more than we think. Even moving to Paradise aka Florida can sometimes leave people a little disheveled. Anytime you get uprooted, even though you’re healthy, it leaves you feeling unstable. In Chinese philosophy, moving is one of the top three disruptors of human chi. What we need to do is get back in rhythm. First, get your bedroom and kitchen set up. Get them clutter free and ready to use. Get back into your rhythms, whether it be walking the dog or going to church. Lastly, embrace the change. Don’t make any other big decisions, give yourself the time to get rooted. The difference in energy can sneak up on you and surprise you, but having a mindset of adapting is key to thriving in your new setting.

10. Any new strategies for a new Covid variant?

Keep doing what you’re doing! Hunker down and keep on the right track. Instead of looking into a variant, look into what you’re doing, the things you can control. You have to keep yourself grounded every day in who you are and what you believe. There will always be something to be scared of, but you don’t have to be scared of everything. Our strategies get better all the time as we learn, there’s nothing new now, so we just stick with the successful strategies we’ve been using.

And last but not least, our one action to become superhuman is…

Communicate Your Health Plan

(And Sign Up For The Cleanse!)

 This week’s supplement recommendations:

  • I had a listener who has a total aversion to vegetables and wondered if there was anything they could do. I recommended 3 SP Green Food a day to help supplement, but also, reintroducing the vegetables you find ickiest in a new way!
  • For a liver detox, I recommended one Milk Thistle Forte twice a day and taking a listen to our Liver Episode.
  • A woman whose perimenopause was causing heart palpitations and shortness of breath wrote in asking for advice. I recommended 6 Drenamin a day for adrenal support and one Ashwagandha Forte three times a day to help curb the anxiety she was feeling.
