Thriving with Chronic Illness with Dr. Jaban Moore | Episode 44
This week on the Health Made Simple Show, Dr. Jaban Moore shares his healing journey with Lyme disease, why Lyme is harder to get rid of than other bacterias, symptoms, and treatment. We also dive into how to find mold in your home, the top three things that cause disease, and red light therapy.
Dr. Jaban Moore is a chiropractor from Kansas City, Missouri. He works with clients all around the world. At 25, Dr. Moore went from being a high-performing college athlete to feeling like he couldn’t get out of bed. He went to an endless number of doctor appointments, but doctors only offered him band-aid fixes to the issue.
Dr. Moore was later diagnosed with Lyme disease and now dedicates his practice to finding the root causes of patients’ illnesses.

Dr. Moore’s Story
I was an all-American college athlete, and I felt strong all through college. Dr. Moore said at the time he didn’t understand why he hit that wall after college and barely had energy.
During chiropractic school, he started eating clean and was feeling amazing.
Just as Dr. Moore began to feel lively again, it all crashed down. He was fatigued and had erectile dysfunction in his twenties. As he went to see doctors, he noticed that they kept wanting to prescribe medications for the symptoms – rather than looking at why it’s happening.
No one had an answer for him. Until he met with a doctor in Wisconsin that was able to diagnose and treat his Lyme disease.
Now, he feels healthy and strong.
What is Lyme Disease?
Lyme technically is a bacteria that can burrow very well in your tissue. You can get it from any type of organism that bites: mosquito, tick, spider, flea, etc.
Lyme can also be transferred from mother to daughter.
While it’s just a bacteria like strep, Lyme is a little bit more challenging to take care of because it doesn’t stay in your bloodstream. It burrows, which means it goes after the white tissue and the brain tissue.
Some studies show that it gets into your brain in twelve hours. Whereas a lot of infections can not get into the brain that easily.
Because of its burrowing quality, chronic Lyme doesn’t respond well to antibiotics. Once Lyme is in your body, it weakens your system.
“I call it Lyme and friends,” Dr. Moore said because this disease almost always has co-infections.
How To Know If You Have Lyme
If you have just Lyme, you may never know. Your body may be able to handle it. However, once your immune system starts to weaken, whether it’s from emotional stress or a virus, then it may start to show itself.
The number one symptom of Lyme is migratory pain, which is pain that just kind of moves around your body. One day you may be hurting in your back, and the next day the pain will move to your arm.
The next sign is headaches, especially ones right along the back of your neck.
Numbness that makes no sense at all is also a symptom of Lyme disease. Some other patterns of those with Lyme are general fatigue and achiness in your hands.
However, Lyme is called the great mimicker. There are about 150 symptoms of it, and often doctors will fall back on Lyme when it may be something else that’s causing these symptoms.
What Causes Most Diseases in the World
Dr. Moore breaks down what causes most diseases.
- Toxins
These are things like chemicals in your food and mold.
- Infections
This is Lyme and all its friends.
- Trauma
This factor includes physical and emotional trauma.
How Long Does It Take to Get Rid of Lyme?
This is an eighteen-month to two-year process.
It’s not a fast process because you have to work through building the body back up, optimizing the immune system, and getting the mitochondria healthy.
While you do those things, you’re also working on healing all your infections that came with Lyme. “I don’t typically see somebody that has less than 8-10 infections when they come into my clinic at least,” Dr. Moore said.
How Do You Know if There’s Mold in Your House?
Look where there potentially is dampness. So look around your sink, in your bathroom, windows, washers, and plants.
One mold test I recommend is Ermi. It’s a dust sample that runs for about $300, but I think it’s the best thing on the market.
With mold cases, a lot of the time it has to do with the host. Two people can live under the same roof and one person gets ill, while the other isn’t affected at all. Lyme and mold have to have the right hosts.
Mold is awful for your immune system.
Parasites
One of Dr. Moore’s friends said that if you have a pulse, you probably have parasites. That may be an overstatement, but we pick up organisms from our food. We don’t just eat food from our backyards. We eat it from around the world.
In the US, we have a lot of sugar in our diets which just feed the yeast and parasites.
Many people have digestive tract issues, but we don’t take a deeper look at them. It may be parasites. There are thousands of parasites, so consider deworming.
Parasites have spent a millennium figuring out how to hide in the guts of different organisms so they don’t trigger an immune response. Because there are thousands of parasites, most don’t show up on testing.
Don’t forget how powerful the human body is though. Our innate body intelligence and the immune system can overcome almost anything if we put in the work.
Making Health Simple
Dr. Moore’s Answers: What is one action that we can take today after this episode to move us toward becoming superhuman?
Take imperfect action for your health. Start drinking distilled water. That’s a simple action for you. Distilled water is the only kind of water that removes some of the radioactive elements that we’re finding are absolutely destroying the mitochondria.
