Top 5 Health Myths | Episode 7
In this episode, we will cover the top health myths that prohibit your ability to become superhuman.
This episode will change your perspective on cholesterol, blood pressure, and arthritis.
Watch the live show below:
Myth 1: Cholesterol Leads to Heart Disease
The first misconception we believe is that If you have high cholesterol, it will lead to a heart attack or even death.
Cholesterol is very much like a fingerprint; it is unique. However, we are basing everyone’s cholesterol health off a general test. This is not a realistic system and often leads to unneeded medication.
What is Cholesterol?
- Cholesterol is a fat and is used to make every cell in the human body.
- It is like duct tape. If we have damage in our body, the LDL aspect of cholesterol heals our arteries.
- Without cholesterol, we would not be able to heal ourselves!
How do we Properly Gauge Cholesterol?
- Many cholesterol tests only show us HDL, LDL, and our triglycerides, but do not mention our particle sizes.
- Particle sizes are what determine our risk of heart disease and heart attacks!
- It is more important to understand your cholesterol ratios than your cholesterol levels. This can be done by dividing your HDL or LDL count by your total cholesterol count.
Myth 2: Medication is Always the Answer
What happens if we take medication when we do not need it?
- If you are not at risk and are living a moderately healthy lifestyle, and you begin to lower the cholesterol in your body, you are reducing the strength and effectiveness of the human cell.
- Cholesterol is essential for producing testosterone. By reducing your cholesterol, you will reduce the testosterone in your body.
- You reduce the amount of fat, which can lead to plantar fasciitis.
- It can cause muscle atrophy.
You need to have a conversation with your doctor if you are prescribed medication! Dive deep, with your research present, asking why they believe that medication is necessary!
You should not quit cold turkey. We advise developing a strategy and having detailed conversations with your practitioner.
Only 1% of the entire population’s mortality was reduced by cholesterol medication when observing heart disease.
The leading cause of heart disease is not cholesterol. It is high blood pressure.
Myth #3: High Blood Pressure is Hereditary
Only 3%-5% of all diseases worldwide are rooted in a genetic issue. We often assume it is a more significant concern than it is.
While high blood pressure is not hereditary, that does not mean our family’s lives do not impact us.
We do pick up on our parent’s habits such as how well they eat, how often they exercise, and the lifestyle that they live, which led them to develop high blood pressure.
Following their example can lead to high blood pressure for us too!
Myth 4: The Majority of our Health Issues are Due to Genetics
It is not genetics that is the biggest concern, but Epigenetics!
What is Epigenetics?
These are the lifestyle choices that we make that can exploit our previous genetic code. A poor sleep schedule, poor nutrition, and a lack of exercise can allow traits of our genetic code to surface.
If your family has a history of disease, the best solution is to practice a different lifestyle than they have.
High blood pressure tells us that we have a problem. It means you either have a deficiency in oxygen, nutrients, and hormones.
To lower your blood pressure, reduce your sugar intake! Sugar inhibits our cell’s ability for our cells to accept oxygen, leading to high blood pressure.
If you have a blood pressure issue, you have an adrenal issue! You can learn more about this by watching Dr. Bart’s talk on Adrenal Dysfunction.
What about fruit sugar?
- No matter where the sugar comes from, it is still essential to reduce the intake. This is because we are not active enough to burn off all of the sugar that we are consuming.
Myth 5: Arthritis is Genetic
Arthritis is not something that has been passed down to you!
Because we have a poor system of flushing used nutrients into our joints, they begin to wear down and grind on one another. This is what causes arthritis!
The best way to overcome this is by changing your diet and lifestyle habits! Again, it comes down to epigenetics!
The two underlying causes of 99% of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, are poor gut health or poor liver health.
