What’s so unique about Trophorestorative Herbs? | Episode 125

by | Oct 26, 2022 | The Health Made Simple Show

Did you know that our beautiful planet provides all of the resources we need to heal our most complicated bodily dysfunctions?

This week on the Health Made Simple Show, we discuss a unique category of herbal medicine: trophorestorative herbs. These herbs stimulate actions within the body that help heal and restore specific physical functions in different tissues and organs. Not only that, but they have been trusted in healing protocols for thousands of years (long before big pharma came around).

These herbs are so beneficial because they push action faster in the body without overriding the system. In this episode, Dr. Bart outlines the best herbs for each major tissue in the body, and how to use them.

Watch the live show below:

To kick things off with some real-life examples, Dr. Bart shares two unique clinical insights he’s recently seen in his own practice:

  • Learn how a 68-year-old female going through a divorce (while battling cancer) overcame scary dizziness and blood pressure issues with a herbal healing protocol.
  • Be in awe of the 18 month old who struggled with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, who rejuvenated damaged facial tissue with a skin super vitamin.

Herbs have been healing the human body for thousands of years. There is more years of research and observation behind these natural remedies than any existing pharmaceutical drug. Functional medicine practitioners however, recognize that herbs are nature’s natural superpower, and rely on them to restore and heal.

Master Herb List:

With so many available, Dr. Bart recommends the TOP herbs to consider for each major part of the body.

Connective Tissue:

Gotu KolaThis herb supports the healing connective tissue within the body. For example, if you tear your ACL, have rotator cuff dysfunction, or have undergone surgery, you have connective tissue that needs to heal. Especially as we age, we need to prioritize tissue health to prevent injury. Gotu Kola can also be a great routine supplement for athletes to support the connective tissue as they train. Experience optimal results by pair with Cataplex C, a bone-broth collagen product that has high collagen and vitamin C content.

Heart:

Hawthorn600,000 Americans per year die of heart related disease and dysfunction so heart health should not be taken lightly. The best herb for ALL cardio support is Hawthorn, as it supports the restoration of damaged heart tissue. When taken regularly it is a great heart attack prevention tool. If you experience heart-related anxiety symptoms (eg. palpitations), Hawthrone can reduce or eliminate those symptoms that make you feel even worse. Mother’s Wort and Cardio Plus are also great pairings to support optimal heart function.

Liver:

Milk ThistleWe are exposed to thousands of toxins every day, forcing our liver and kidneys into detox overdrive. Milk Thistle protects and restores the liver from toxins and damage, so everyone (especially those suffering with fatty liver dysfunction) should regularly consume Milk Thistle. If you are suffering with food sensitivities it can help support your digestion. This herb pairs well with Livaplex and Schisandra, creating a home run for overall liver support.

Kidneys:

RehmanniaIf you struggle with an autoimmune condition, Rehmannia is an amazing herb for kidney infection and adrenal support.

AstragalusOften considered the herb of immunity, it is the best supplement for those who have experienced chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Pair with Argenx (a product designed to funnel the nutrients the kidneys need to detox and function properly).

Prostate Support:

Saw Palmetto (or Prostate Co): This herb is great for anyone who has an enlarged prostate, impotence, or needs a male health tonic. Make sure you use a reputable brand and not a cheap substitute (which can be hard to find) to get the best result. It also pairs well with Prostate PMG and when used together, it supports the core of male health tissue healing. Pronostico is a great Saw Palmetto alternative when it is not available.

Endocrine Health:

TribulusGreat for sex hormone health, this herb restores the gonads and ovaries and testes. It’s a great herb for overall vitality and libido. Women who have struggled with PCOS should regularly supplement Tribulus. Men should pair with Orchex (coming from Orchids), will rejuvenate the testes, while women should use Orvex (for menstrual cycle support). It is also widely used by young athletes in substitution of hormone replacement.

Tissues:

GoldenSealThis herb supports your inner tissues (especially the gut lining and throat), and is particularly for those suffering with colitis, as it restores mucosal membranes. If you smoke any sort of substance, you are damaging your throat and sinus mucosal lining, and should be supplementing with Golden Seal. It also pairs well with Okra Pepsin, which promotes natural mucosal digestion proprocess.

Where are the herbs in Westernized medicine?

Herbs are used to support and treat the root cause of disease, not just the symptoms. As a result, herbal medicine isn’t a “quick fix” like pharmaceuticals are designed to be. Not only that, but you can’t patent a herb (meaning it’s not as attractive to pharmaceutical companies to pursue). “Show me the study!” is the typical Western medicine mindset vs. referencing the thousands of years worth of case studies. Doctors will only rely on research that is funded by big pharma companies. Science is slower at catching up to history, but functional medicine is keeping the ancient knowledge alive.

Superhuman tip of the week:

If you make the commitment to nourish your body with the magic of herbal medicine, you won’t regret it. Your body will have the support it needs to heal and restore and prevent disease.

Do a deeper dive in knowing your body. Develop these healthy habits and allow yourself some time. Nothing ever changes overnight, so commit to understanding yourself and what your body needs long term.
