World Health Update | Episode 47

by | Apr 28, 2021 | The Health Made Simple Show

In this episode of the Health Made Simple Show, Dr. Bart updates us on the health status of the world using the latest research. We talk about why low vitamin D levels are correlated with fatalities, cytokine storms, and how our bodies’ natural mechanisms interact with the vaccine and virus.

Health, especially in this past year with the pandemic, is a sensitive topic. As a disclaimer, my only intention is to share information in this episode that is to the best of my knowledge so far.

I’m not trying to be your doctor, and by no means trying to prescribe treatments.

I intend to inform and give health strategies to level you up for whatever decisions you choose!

Conditions Correlated to COVID-19 Fatalities

Of the COVID fatalities, obesity and low vitamin D levels are the two primary correlations.

As a practitioner in the healthcare field for decades, I know how essential vitamin D is to the immune system. I run copious amounts of labs in my office, and the majority of people are significantly low in vitamin D.

If you don’t know your levels, don’t guess. You probably need to start incorporating vitamin D in your regime.

Data on Vaccines

One of the biggest things that’s still up in the air is the vaccine’s effectiveness at slowing the spread. I’ve searched for research papers on this topic, but for the time being, there isn’t enough data to have a definite answer.

One of the biggest things that we don’t know yet is long-term side effects. The media reports that millions of people have gotten it without side effects, but in healthcare, that’s not the best benchmark to look at.

Time is always the benchmark. Just because a lot of people are getting it, that doesn’t make it any safer. Science is based on time, while logic is fast.

These are the two major updates as we wait on time.

There are a lot of medications that were approved at one point, but then healthcare providers pulled them off the market because of the harmful long-term side effects. For example, Zantac was on the market for about forty years but was removed because researchers found it causes cancer.

My Stance

I’m praying that the vaccine is the end-all to this and that the pandemic goes away. I’m very cautious with what I allow in my body and with what I put on my skin, so for now, I’m waiting until there’s been more research and time.

I’ve already had COVID so I have the antibodies. Because we don’t have enough research and data on it yet, I can’t tell people the long-term side effects of the vaccine yet.

I encourage you to make your own decisions, and the best-case scenario is that it does work.

How To Level Up During the Pandemic

When we talk about being the best version of ourselves we have to have the right foundation.

Anytime you put anything in or on your body, or anytime you let thoughts into your mind and soul, you should be asking the question “Does this make me healthier?”

People are getting vaccinated because they want to travel safely again. In our country, we have a Medical Privacy Act, meaning that you can’t ask people or discriminate against people based on their medical history. So, be assured that you likely won’t have to have a vaccine to travel between the states.

You may need to have a vaccine to travel internationally. Again, time will tell to see how this all unfolds.

Cytokine Storm

A cytokine is a protein that is released from your immune system.

When your immune system gets activated by a foreign invader like a virus, the cytokines are activated. You can also activate cytokines through having inflammation in your body caused by poor diet and sugar.

Think of cytokines as crazy warriors in your army. These proteins go out and kill invaders. They get into cells and kill viruses, but they will also sacrifice the cell to kill the virus.

However, this response produces more inflammation.

The challenge here is that if your body is already inflamed, like with obesity and heart disease, you develop a cytokine storm.

This storm overwhelms the body with inflammation. A cytokine storm is a massive state of inflammation that is killing people. A cytokine storm is the number one cause of death of people with COVID.

I recommend taking turmeric daily to help decrease inflammation. We use one called Turmeric Forte which crosses the blood-brain barrier so you won’t get brain inflammation.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a master immune modulator.

Vitamin D has a receptor on every single cell in the human body because our body uses it to communicate with the immune system. Vitamin D signals out to the white blood cells what an individual cell needs when there’s an indicator. For example, Vitamin D could signal for cytokines, killer T cells, or whatever a cell might need.

If the immune system gives too much of something to a cell, vitamin D also tells it to slow the incoming proteins and nutrients.

Let’s say you are deficient in vitamin D, your body is already in an inflamed state because you have a condition like diabetes, and then you get the virus. In this state, you won’t be able to control the incoming cytokine because you need more vitamin D.

Your body gets overwhelmed and in a state that can be fatal.

Scientists discovered through autopsies of people who passed away with COVID-19 that over 80% of them were low in vitamin D.

So, one great health strategy to level up your immune system is to get more vitamin D in your system.

Timing is everything…

If you’re going to get the vaccine, know that it will provoke an inflammatory spike. So, if you’re already in an inflamed state, like just getting over COVID, for example, I suggest you wait until your body is more clear.

I think two full months or more is a good time frame for your body to get clear of inflammation.

We’re seeing so many side effects from the vaccine because many people’s bodies are already in an inflammatory state and then the vaccine sends your body into a shock. So you have to be smart about it and have a health strategy to make sure your body is in the best state to handle it.

How to Supplement…

As I mentioned, you need to have vitamin D and turmeric in your daily supplement regime. Vitamin C and zinc are also essential to take for immune health.

I also recommend having these supplements on hand for when you start to have a histamine response.

The Power of Our Minds…

Having stress in our lives is also a major cause of inflammation. The constant push of cortisol produces a lot of inflammation in the body. So this causes the vulnerability. Your mind and body are connected, and having a relaxing yet purposeful life also breeds health.

Questions from the Audience

I have a family member who’s in her 30s and still recovering from COVID. After months, she hasn’t regained her taste or smell and now has begun to lose her hair. She is low on vitamin B12 and D2. any suggestions on what she should add to her diet?

After COVID, remember that there was a war in your body. The immune system was fighting the virus, resulting in a lot of dead cell waste left in the body. The first thing to do is to clear the battlefield.

You need to get your diet clean right away. Intermittent fasting is a great way to give the digestive system time to get everything out. We need a timeout to clear out.

Support the liver by eating cruciferous vegetables in copious amounts. Also, take Milk Thistle to detox the liver but also repair it. When paired with AF Beta Food, which is phenomenal at cleaning out the gallbladder, it’s a powerful way to move toxicities out.

After you’ve cleared out the battlefield, you now have to replenish the nutrients. Think of the nutrients as your immune system’s ammo, which has been depleted from the battle. If it’s not a whole food, don’t put it in the body. Don’t use synthetic vitamins either.

With hair loss, the body goes into a state of stress which creates inflammation in the body. Things like amino acids have a harder time developing into proteins. Our hair is a protein. For that follicle to grow we need minerals and vitamins to handle the amino acids.

Making Health Simple

What is one action that we can take today after this episode to move us toward becoming superhuman?
